# Cost per accepted task

Open `index.html` directly from the extracted folder. It contains its styles and classic JavaScript bundle: no server, account, network request, browser storage or installed package is needed. Your entries stay in the open page and disappear when it is closed or reloaded. Keep your own approved record if you need to preserve assumptions.

Compare a manual workflow, a commodity local setup and a cloud/hosted setup under the same task, acceptance criteria, currency and period. Names are editable; none is a prescribed winner. Every numeric input is initially blank. `Unknown` is different from zero. Mark an inapplicable cost explicitly and explain why; included costs require every operand. The workbook companion follows the same formula contract.

- **Denominator:** unique accepted tasks, not generations or retries. Accepted tasks cannot exceed unique attempted tasks. Zero accepted tasks makes cost per accepted task undefined.
- **Hardware:** `(purchase − residual value) / useful life in months × shared months × workload share`. The shared period must not exceed the configured useful life; share is between zero and one. This is a straight-line planning allocation for the chosen workload.
- **Other costs:** software, support and other inputs are already attributable to the chosen workload and period. Do not apply the hardware share to them again.
- **Labor:** administration, model/data preparation, primary work, retry handling and review/correction are mutually exclusive person-hours multiplied by their respective rates. Explain whether rates represent cash expense or valued internal time. Count each person-hour once.
- **API:** one attributable period bill or estimate covering all primary and retry input/output token charges. No retry multiplier is applied. Human retry handling is a separate labor category, not a second API bill.
- **Energy:** attributable kilowatt-hours multiplied by the energy rate. Exclude a charge explicitly if it is already included elsewhere.
- **Total:** sum all eleven resolved buckets. A full total and per-accepted-task result also require the shared context. No complete total is shown while a cost bucket or context is unknown. Negative, nonfinite and overflowed values do not become zero.
- **Acceptance rate:** unique accepted / unique attempted; undefined when attempted is zero. This counts-only ratio may be shown before shared context is complete, but it is not a comparable result until the task/criteria/window/currency are defined.

Label each scenario as actual, estimated or mixed inputs. These are your declarations, not independently verified measurements. Record sources, dates, configuration, versions and exclusions in the scenario notes. Equal criteria and a complete cost model support a useful comparison; they do not establish that any product has completed the work.

`formula-contract.json` defines the inputs and boundaries. `calculator.mjs` is the pure arithmetic module; `ui.mjs` supplies the local interface. `core-check.mjs` contains one bounded synthetic arithmetic check set. `index.html` includes the UI and engine as an inline classic bundle for `file://` use.

A later real comparison needs observed attempts, accepted outputs, retained failures/retries, review effort, current configurations and comparable periods. No current Qwerty or competitor result, default price or forecast is supplied by this calculator.
